Top scorer by a distance

Ewa Pajor has won the top goalscorer award for the second time in her career.

Her farewell appearance for the She-Wolves could hardly have been more impressive. Ewa Pajor scored a first-half hat-trick in VfL Wolfsburg Women’s 6-0 victory over SGS Essen, lifting the 27-year-old to 18 league goals for the campaign and earning her kicker magazine’s Torjägerkanone award for the second time in her career.

Comfortable winner

Pajor finished comfortably ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nicole Anyomi and FC Bayern Munich’s Lea Schüller, who finished joint-second with 11 goals apiece.

“I want to thank the whole team”

The Polish striker was typically modest about her achievement. “I want to thank the whole team – I couldn’t have done it alone,” she said after captaining the She-Wolves on her last appearance for the club, highlighting her importance to the side. “This award also means we scored a lot of goals as a team.”

Reflecting on a perfect final outing in green and white, Pajor added: “It was at home in front of our fans, and in an incredible atmosphere. Moments like these will stay in my heart forever.”

Pajor first won kicker magazine’s annual top goalscorer award in 2018/19 after registering 24 goals in 19 appearances. Overall, the Polish international found the net 137 times in 196 competitive outings for VfL.
