VfL round off season with big win

She-Wolves beat SGS Essen, superb Ewa Pajor finishes as top scorer.

VfL Women finished the 2023/24 season in perfect style on Monday afternoon, overwhelming SGS Essen with a 6-0 victory in front of 4,469 fans at the AOK Stadion. The Green-and-Whites were 5-0 up at half-time following a brilliant team performance in which Ewa Pajor stood out, hitting a hat-trick in her final game for the club to take her tally to 18 and finish the campaign as the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga top scorer for a second time.

Tommy Stroot's charges will continue to train in Wolfsburg for a few more days before the summer break. However, not everyone will head off on holiday straight away: a number of players will be on international duty between 27 May and 4 June for the 2025 European Championship qualifying campaign.

Reaction

Tommy Stroot: "We created a wonderful stage today to say farewell to the players who are leaving us. We wanted to make a fantastic atmosphere and we did just that. It was a successful day all round."
