Philipp signs permanently

Maximilian Philipp signs a four-year contract at VfL Wolfsburg.

Maximilian Philipp is staying with the Wolves: the attacker has signed a four-year contract at VfL Wolfsburg until 2025, after the club agreed a permanent transfer with Dynamo Moscow. The 27-year-old initially joined the Green-and-Whites on loan from the Russian top-flight club last summer. Philipp scored six goals in 27 appearances in all competitions last season, including both goals in the draw against RB Leipzig in mid-May which secured the Wolves’ qualification for the Champions League.

“Huge anticipation”

“I’m very happy to now be a permanent Green-and-White and be able to continue helping the team on our successful path,” said Philipp. “The anticipation ahead of the new season is huge – obviously because we’re playing in the Champions League, but also because I can’t wait to finally get to play in front of our fans at the Volkswagen Arena.”

VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer said: “Maximilian has consistently proven his value to our team and brings precisely the qualities we need to continue having success. He’s ambitious, versatile and an absolute team player. We’re therefore very pleased that we managed to agree with Dynamo Moscow and tie Maximilian here long-term.”
