Die Frauenmannschaft des VfL Wolfsburg gewinnt den DFB Pokal.

The She-Wolves clinched the DFB Cup once again on Thursday with a 2-0 win over FC Bayern Munich at Cologne’s RheinEnergieStadion. Here are some of the reactions and congratulatory messages on the team’s 11th cup win, and 10th in a row:

Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group: “Congratulations, She-Wolves! You’ve made history again with this success. Volkswagen Group is very proud of this great team and the great team behind it.”

Frank Witter, supervisory board chairman of VfL Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH: “Our team have succeeded in extending an already unparalleled run. They’ve once again underlined that VfL Wolfsburg are among the top teams in women’s football. This achievement makes us hugely proud, and going into the new season, we’re full of anticipation and confidence. On behalf of the entire supervisory board of VfL Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH, I would like to congratulate head coach Tommy Stroot’s team and everyone involved on this cup win!”

Dr Tim Schumacher, managing director of VfL Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH: “Our women deservedly won the final against strong opponents, thanks to a lot of passion and a brilliant performance. This 10th successive DFB Cup title is also the hard-earned reward for the efforts in a season that hasn’t always been easy. This unique winning run shows that women’s football remains a flagship for VfL, Volkswagen and the city of Wolfsburg. Congratulations to our team as well as the whole team behind the team!”

Michael Meeske, managing director of VfL Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH: “This final between currently the two strongest teams in Germany was a real advert for women’s football, as was the setting at the RheinEnergieStadion, which was sold out for the second year running. That makes me all the more pleased that our women lifted the trophy there with such a confident performance, claiming not only their 50th successive win [in the cup] but also their 11th title overall. Congratulations!”
