Omar Marmoush will leave VfL Wolfsburg after the current season. The Egyptian’s contract, which expires on 30 June of this year, will not be renewed and he will leave the club after six years. “In open and honest talks, both parties exchanged their views,” explained VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “No agreement could be reached during these talks, so Omar has decided to look for a new challenge. We thank him for his service in the VfL shirt and wish him all the best for the future, both in his career and personal life.”
Professional debut in 2020
Marmoush joined the Green-and-Whites in 2017 from Egyptian club Wadi Degla SC, initially playing for the Wolves’ U23 side. The now 24-year-old made his professional debut in May 2020 in the 4-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen. He was sent on loan to FC St. Pauli for six months at the start of 2021 and then spent the 2021/22 campaign with VfB Stuttgart. The forward made a total of 34 Bundesliga appearances for VfL, scoring five goals. He also played one Europa League match, five in the DFB Cup (one goal) and 36 for Wolfsburg reserves (11 goals).

Marmoush said: “I had a good time in Wolfsburg and I thank the management for the opportunities they’ve given me to continue my development, including with the two loans. However, it’s now time for the next step for me. I will give my all until the end of the season to help the team achieve our goals.”
