“Ready to go and give it my all”

A brief interview with new recruit Patrick Wimmer.

Patrick Wimmer was Arminia Bielefeld’s top contributor in attack last season, with three goals and nine assists. Now he’s aiming to show his skills in a Wolves jersey, but – like the other players – he has to get through pre-season first before trying to improve statistics. Wimmer and the rest of the squad are currently being put through their paces at training camp in Seefeld, where the summer signing took the time to sit down and talk about how he has fitted into his new team, his first impressions and his excitement for the new season.

Hello Patrick. Your first training camp with the Wolves has taken you back home to Austria. How are you enjoying things here in Seefeld?

Patrick Wimmer: “It’s always nice to be in Austria. I’d never actually been to Seefeld before, but from what I’ve seen so far it’s very nice. The conditions are what we need, the hotel and training site aren’t far apart – 15 minutes or so by bike. It’s lovely, and the view of the mountains is obviously the icing on the cake.”

You’ve completed your first week with your new teammates. What are your impressions of the team and the intensity levels in training?

Patrick: “I came straight from my holidays, so to begin with it was pretty intensive. I had to get into it and find my feet first, then there were some practical things like setting up my new flat, for example. But I’m feeling good and the team have really made me feel welcome. Now I’m ready to go and give it my all.”

That’s what we like to hear. How glad are you to be getting going again?

Patrick: “Very glad. Holidays are good but I want to stay in shape and play football with my new teammates. After a two-week holiday, two weeks of international duty and then another two weeks off, I’m looking forward to getting back to the daily Bundesliga grind again.”

What kind of person are you off the pitch?

Patrick: “I’m a relaxed kind of guy who’s always in a good mood and likes to laugh a lot.”
