The core part of the Green-and-Whites’ pre-season has started. At 8:45 on Friday morning, the travelling party of 34 players plus coaches, officials and backroom staff set off for Austria, where they will spend the next week continuing their preparations for the 2022/23 season. After having breakfast together at the VfL-Center, the group headed to Braunschweig airport in two buses, where their flight to Innsbruck departed at 10:00. They were due to arrive at their destination in Seefeld at midday, before the first training session in the Alpine resort in Tyrol at 16:00.

“We have everything we need”

It’s not all training, though. The Wolves will mix things up tomorrow, Saturday 9 July, with a friendly against Austrian Bundesliga side WSG Tirol at the Gernot-Langes-Stadion in Wattens (kick-off 17:30 CEST). Wölfe TV will be broadcasting the match live. “We‘re very much looking forward to our time in Seefeld,” said VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer. “In a wonderful location with a great hotel and excellent training pitches, we have everything we need there to prepare for the season in an optimal and highly focussed way.”
