“Wonderful feeling”

VfL legend Grafite thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Wolfsburg last weekend.

After paying a brief visit in mid-January, former VfL striker Grafite – part of the Wolves’ 2009 title-winning side and the first player in the club’s history to win the Bundesliga top scorer crown – had a bit more time to spend as he visited his old stomping ground last weekend for the home match against SV Werder Bremen. The Brazilian was kept busy, though, taking part in a ‘Green-White Talk’ at the VfL FanWelt in the Wolfsburger City-Galerie and visiting the special exhibition at the VfL-FußballWelt to mark the 10-year anniversary of the title win, before attending the game against Bremen.

Hello Graffa! What was it like to return to your former home?

Grafite: “It’s a long time since I was here. I wanted to come to Wolfsburg for several days and not just one or two, but then I was here at short notice a couple of months ago. It was nice to experience the atmosphere here again this time and watch VfL live in the Bundesliga. It was also nice to meet the VfL fans at the City-Galerie and around the stadium, as well as Marcel Schäfer and the players.”

Whether it’s at the VfL FanWelt, on stage at the fan zone or at the Volkswagen Arena, you’re still hugely popular among the fans, who haven’t forgotten you…

Grafite: “It really is great to be treated so well here. It was something special when I came onto the pitch to be interviewed before the match against Bremen and many of the fans were still chanting my name. The visit gave me a wonderful feeling and reminded me of what a great time I had here. My wife also said to me that it was nice to be back and see old faces.”
