After drawing 1-1 against Sassuolo Calcio in Saturday's first friendly, VfL Wolfsburg slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Spanish side Celta Vigo in the day's second warm-up match. Unai Nunez headed in the only goal of the game at the Volkswagen Arena in the 29th minute.

Rogerio makes VfL debut

Rogerio, VfL's new signing, made his starting debut for the club at left-back. The Wolves almost equalised shortly before the end, but Patrick Wimmer's shot hit the post.

"Too unproductive in possession"

VfL head coach Niko Kovac on the friendly double-header: "The boys did well in the first game, apart from in the opening 10-15 minutes, when they were lacking aggression. There were a lot of positives: we got behind their defence frequently, we created chances and we looked decent when defending. I wasn't pleased with the second game. Celta defended a bit deeper and it obviously wasn't easy to find ways around that. We were too unproductive in possession and just played the ball to and fro. If you don't try to attack the space behind them, then it's difficult. We need to do better at that."
