Wolves adapt training schedule

VfL Wolfsburg have changed their regular training schedule this week given the longer preparation time ahead of the Bundesliga meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt.

In light of the Easter holidays and the Wolves' unfamiliar Monday-night fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 22 April at the Volkswagen Arena (kick-off 20:30 CEST), head coach Bruno Labbadia has deviated from the usual training pattern this week. One such change included a friendly match on Wednesday between the U23s and members of the first-team squad who have not played much recently.

Attacking trio missing

Three players Labbadia would like to have seen in action were unable to take part due to injury. Daniel Ginczek and Felix Klaus are both currently suffering from back complaints, while Josip Brekalo was also sidelined with a knock to his foot sustained in training on Tuesday.
"It's a shame because it would've been important for all three of them to get some match practice," said Labbadia afterwards. At present it is unclear if the trio will be available for the meeting with Frankfurt on Easter Monday, but they will be monitored over the coming days.
The U23s won the friendly 1-0, much to Labbadia's disappointment. "We can't be satisfied with that; it's not what we were after," said the head coach, who nevertheless insisted he had taken some "important insights" from the game.

No training on Good Friday

As planned, there will be no training on Good Friday but there will be two sessions over the weekend so that the players are fresh and ready to face fourth-placed Frankfurt on Monday.
