VfL Wolfsburg Women returned from the international break in fine form and collected a comfortable 4-1 win at 1. FC Köln in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga. Svenja Huth (21’) opened the scoring, Dominique Janssen (45’ +3) added a second from the penalty spot and Vivien Endemann (53’) and Joelle Wedemeyer (85’) were also on the scoresheet for the Green-and-Whites, while Anna Gerhardt – sister of VfL midfielder Yannick – briefly equalised for the home side.
The result means Tommy Stroot’s charges move to the top of the table ahead of Bayern, who could return to the summit if they beat Leverkusen on Monday.
Goals
- 0-1 Huth (21’): Janina Hechler’s attempted headed clearance lands at the feet of Huth, who fires in the opener from distance.
- 1-1 Gerhardt (26’): Unbelievable. Köln equalise almost straight away and of all people it’s Gerhardt, the sister of VfL midfielder Yannick.
- 1-2 Janssen (pen. 45’+3): After a foul on Kathi Hendrich, Janssen makes no mistake from the spot to give VfL a half-time lead.
- 1-3 Endemann (53’): Endemann scores the all-important third goal with a shot into the top corner.
- 1-4 Wedemeyer (85’): Lynn Wilms’ strike is blocked but the ball falls kindly for Wedemeyer, who seals the win with Wolfsburg’s fourth.
