Since joining VfL Wolfsburg from FC Copenhagen during the winter break, Jonas Wind has started every game for the Wolves (https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/en/teams/first-team) and has also found the net on four occasions. Here, the likeable Dane opens up on his first few months at VfL.

Jonas Wind, your first half-season in Wolfsburg is almost over. How would you sum it up?

Jonas Wind: “First of all, I have to say that the last four months or so have gone by really quickly. It was a good start for me. I was made to feel welcome from the very first moment and I’m still very happy to be here.”

The second half of the season was a very mixed bag. There were comfortable wins but also heavy defeats. How did you experience it on the pitch?

Jonas: “Yes, it really was a rollercoaster ride. We definitely need to add more stability to our performances, no question about that. We also need to stop having these games where we concede a lot of goals. On the other hand, we’ve also shown that we can put in strong performances and score a lot of goals ourselves. That’s the positive thing.”

With restrictions coming to an end, the stadiums have been filling up again of late. On Saturday, you’ll experience a full Volkswagen Arena for the first time. What does that mean to you?

Jonas: “It’s going to be great, I’m really looking forward to it. It means a great deal to us when a lot of fans come to the stadium. I hope we’ll see a lot of them again in the new season. It helps us enormously and gives us the final percentage points we need on the pitch.”

Bayern were crowned champions a long time ago, they’ve already lifted the trophy and been to Ibiza. What are you expecting from them on Saturday?

Jonas: (laughs) “If you’re already champions, you don’t have that enormous pressure anymore. Even so, we’re up against an outstanding team with fantastic players. It’ll be a difficult task, but we definitely want to produce our best performance again in our final game.”

Have you already set yourself goals for next season?

Jonas: “For starters, I’m really looking forward to getting going again here with fresh energy. I really hope we’ll have a better season as a team and continue to challenge near the top, where VfL Wolfsburg belong. First, though, we need to finish the current campaign well. That’s why our full focus is on our final game.”
