“We need a lot of energy”

Bruno Labbadia looks ahead to the Easter Monday clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

VfL Wolfsburg host fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Easter Monday (kick-off 20:30 CEST) in what promises to be a big test for the Green-Whites. At Thursday’s press conference ahead of the Matchday 30 encounter, VfL coach Bruno Labbadia discussed…

…personnel: “We’re in a situation in which lots of things are coming at once. Daniel Ginczek had problems with his back yesterday and had to pull out of training today because of a flu-like infection. Felix Klaus is also struggling with his back, Paul Verhaegh still has pain in his rib after a collision before the last game and Jerome Roussillon hasn’t been able to train properly all week because of muscular problems. William is doing better, though.”

…Frankfurt’s quality and their involvement in Europe: “Eintracht are doing very well despite the strain of playing in two competitions. They have a huge amount of power in their game, especially in the Europa League. Frankfurt are a really strong side with a lot of quality, particularly in attack.”

…the strategy against Eintracht: “We need a lot of energy against this team, which we had in the reverse fixture. What stood out there was how much power we put into the game. We conceded very few chances and also played some very good football. We deserved to win the game because we put in a top performance in Frankfurt. We need to play at least as well as that now. We’re looking forward to playing at home, particularly as we’ve done well at home lately.”

…the final few games of the season and the battle for European places: “Every Bundesliga match is important, but the pressure of our situation is a positive one because we’re playing for the European places. There are a lot of good teams around us, who are all pushing hard and have a lot of quality. It’ll be an exciting race.”
