Success all round in Euro qualifying

Wolves players in international action.

While most of the VfL squad are currently enjoying a well-earned summer holiday, a number of them have been on international duty, with plenty of them having a lot to smile about over the last few days. Renato Steffen is the only one who did not emerge victorious as Switzerland lost their UEFA Nations League semi-final 3-1 in Portugal. The Wolves attacker only featured towards the end of the match, although Kevin Mbabu, who will join VfL ahead of the coming season, played the full 90 minutes.
In the Euro 2020 qualifiers, however, the Green-Whites managed a perfect record. Pavao Pervan watched from the bench as his Austria team defeated Slovenia 1-0, while Josip Brekalo played 66 minutes of Croatia’s 2-1 win over Wales. Yunus Malli also remained on the bench throughout Turkey’s 2-0 victory over World Cup winners France in what was the big surprise of the weekend.
