She-Wolves win second friendly

The VfL Ladies beat Ferencvaros 6-1 on Saturday.

After beating SSV Besiegdas 03 Magdeburg 22-0 in their first friendly of 2019/20 last week, the VfL Wolfsburg women’s team continued their fine start to pre-season with victory over Budapest outfit Ferencvaros on Saturday afternoon. The first half against the Hungarian champions was an even affair, but the She-Wolves went through the gears after the restart and ran out comfortable 6-1 winners. Ewa Pajor (3), Pernille Harder, Svenja Huth and Alexandra Popp got the goals for VfL in near-perfect conditions at the Stadion am Elsterweg.

“We made our opponents chase the game”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “I’m satisfied with our performance, but I saw certain things we still need to work on. Our positional play was good and we also made our opponents chase the game. We created plenty of goalscoring opportunities but also missed several chances. That’s because we’ve been working very hard for two weeks now. We’ll take our chances better in the coming weeks.”
