She-Wolves remain insatiable

VfL Women earned a 2-0 league win at home to Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

VfL Wolfsburg Women completed an intensive period of four games in 12 days with a 2-0 triumph at home to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga. The result, which leaves the Green-and-Whites second in the standings, was the team’s 12th successive win in all competitions. Kathrin Hendrich and Fridolina Rolfö got the goals for VfL, while Lena Oberdorf made her comeback from a muscular injury after a spell on the sidelines.

The She-Wolves are next in action on Saturday 20 March in the DFB Cup quarter-finals against SV Werder Bremen (kick-off 14:00 CET).

“Should have made it 2-0 earlier”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “First off, the result itself is pleasing. We kept a clean sheet for the fifth time in a row and beat a good team. I think we should have made it 2-0 earlier on, but everyone knows it’s tough when you have midweek fixtures too. With that in mind, we’re just happy to keep the points in Wolfsburg and to at least have a little breather now.”
