She-Wolves maintain winning run

VfL Wolfsburg Ladies beat Czech champions Slavia Prague 3-2 on Saturday.

The VfL Wolfsburg women’s team stretched their winning pre-season run to three games on Saturday, beating Czech champions SK Slavia Prague 3-2 in front of 125 spectators at the Stadion Halle-Neustadt. Svenja Huth and Pernille Harder (2) got the goals for VfL, who take on Arsenal WFC in their next friendly at their training camp in Walchsee, Austria.

“We can learn a lot of lessons”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “In terms of the result it was a much tighter affair than our previous two games, which is what we expected. Slavia are in the Champions League and made things difficult for us, but we obviously missed one or two chances [to score more goals]. Their goals were down to mistakes in our build-up play and the reason we won by such a narrow margin. Overall we can learn a lot of lessons from the game, which will help us take the next step in the coming weeks.”
