VfL Wolfsburg are set to travel to Kosovo for the round of 32 of the 2019/20 UEFA Women’s Champions League, after the two-time champions were drawn against KFF Mitrovica in the opening round. The first leg will be played on 11/12 September 2019 in Kosovo, with the return leg two weeks later (25/26 September 2019) at the AOK Stadion. Mitrovica were Kosovo Women’s Football League champions for the 2018/2019 season, and this is the first time that the team from the north of the country have made it as far as the last 32 of the Women’s Champions League. The exact details of the matches will be decided by the two clubs over the next few days and then made known to the public.

“Completely unknown opponent”

“KFF Mitrovica will be a completely unknown opponent for us in the first round of the Champions League. We’ll prepare for them as best we possibly can and obviously we’ll be going into the tie as clear favourites,” said Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of VfL Women. “The trip will represent a logistical challenge for us since we have absolutely no experience with teams from Kosovo. We’re hoping that we can play the match in the capital Pristina.”
