New left-back

Ingolstadt full-back Paulo Otavio moving to VfL Wolfsburg.

After Kevin Mbabu and Joao Victor, left-back Paulo Otavio has become the third new signing for the Wolves for the 2019/2020 season. The 24-year-old Brazilian has moved from relegated second division outfit FC Ingolstadt 04 on a four-year contract that will keep him at Wolfsburg until 2023.

"Paulo is a player with a lot of speed who puts in a shift and has plenty of other qualities besides, the like of which we need on the left side of defence," said VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer. "He has steadily developed over the past three years at Linz and Ingolstadt, and has everything he needs to take the next step in his career with us. He will also be a very good fit in the team in terms of his personality."

In the season just gone, Otavio became a regular for Ingolstadt and made a total of 38 appearances for them over two years, setting up two goals in the process. The 1.74-metre tall defender will be reunited with his former boss having played under new VfL coach Oliver Glasner at LASK Linz in the 2016/17 campaign, the two of them celebrating promotion at the end of that season to the Austrian top flight.
