New head of scouting

Nils Schmadtke will be talent-spotting for the Wolves.

Nils Schmadtke, son of VfL managing director Jörg Schmadtke, has been handed a position at the club. Starting from Monday of next week, the 31-year-old will head up the Wolves‘ restructured scouting department, where the general responsibilities and remits have been redefined. He has previously worked as a scout for 1. FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“Excellent reputation in the industry”

Sporting director Marcel Schäfer, who’s responsible for the scouting department and therefore for Schmadtke’s appointment, is looking forward to their work together: “I’ve known Nils a long time, we were in communication during my time in the US and have always kept in regular contact, so I’m delighted to now be bringing him to VfL Wolfsburg. Nils has an excellent reputation in the industry and will be an important go-between in our scouting department.”
