With just over five weeks until the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga leaders return to action with a top-of-the-table clash against second-placed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Friday 14 February at 19:15 CET), Stephan Lerch’s side have started their preparations for the second half of the campaign. After undergoing various performance tests, the She-Wolves will take to the Elsterweg pitch at 15:00 CET on Thursday 9 January for their first training session of the new year. Sweden international Madelen Janogy, who officially became a VfL player on 1 January, will train with her new team-mates for the first time.
Two friendlies in Portugal
Later this month (22 January - 2 February), VfL will hold a 12-day training camp in the Portuguese Algarve, returning to the country for a ninth time. On 24 January, Lerch’s troops take on familiar opposition in Dutch champions FC Twente, who recently lost both legs of their UEFA Women’s Champions League last-16 tie to the She-Wolves (6-0; 1-0). Like last year, the Green-and-Whites will also face Bundesliga rivals 1. FFC Frankfurt in a friendly on 31 January.
