Little playing time for internationals

A brief look at this week’s international matches from a VfL perspective.

Two more Wolves players can now finally sign off for their well-earned summer break. Pavao Pervan and Yunus Malli have both been away with their national teams, who were still involved in Euro 2020 qualifying at the start of the week. While Pervan’s Austria side were 4-1 winners in North Macedonia, Malli’s Turkey failed to follow up on their sensational victory over France last Saturday as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat in Iceland. Neither VfL player got to see any action, however.

Josip Brekalo, who played 58 minutes of Croatia’s 2-1 friendly loss to Tunisia, is not yet on vacation, with the Wolves winger going straight to the under-21 team which is competing in the European Championship as of next week. Also taking part in that tournament will be Felix Uduokhai, who has been selected in the Germany squad. Fellow VfL defender Marcel Tisserand also has a big tournament coming up, with DR Congo involved in the Africa Cup of Nations starting at the end of June.
