Late win for Malli

Yunus Malli's Turkey scored two late goals to complete an extraordinary comeback against Sweden.

The first international break of the new season is drawing to a close. As VfL Wolfsburg prepare to welcome Hertha Berlin to the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday (kick-off: 15:30 CEST), five Wolves stars were involved with their respective national teams at the beginning of the week.

Cameo appearance for Malli

After losing their UEFA Nations League opener to Russia, Turkey came from 2-0 down to beat Sweden 3-2 on Monday. Wolfsburg midfielder Yunus Malli was a second-half substitute, entering the fray in the 86th minute of the contest in Solna.

Belgium also claimed all three points in their first Nations League fixture, beating Iceland 3-0 thanks to a penalty from Eden Hazard (29') and a brace from Romelu Lukaku (31', 81'). VfL goalkeeper Koen Casteels was an unused substitute in Reykjavik.

Blaszczykowski draws level with Zewlakow

Jakub Blaszczykowski played 81 minutes of Poland's 1-1 friendly draw with the Republic of Ireland in Wroclaw on Tuesday. It was the midfielder's 102nd outing for the national side, making him Poland’s joint all-time record appearance holder alongside Michal Zewlakow. Elsewhere, Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game in England's 1-0 friendly win against Switzerland, who brought on Admir Mehmedi at the start of the second half.

Comfortable win for Germany Under-21s

After making his debut for Germany's Under-21s last week, Felix Uduokhai watched Tuesday's 6-0 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying victory against the Republic of Ireland from the bench. Stefan Kuntz's team sit top of Group 5, five points clear of second place, with just two rounds of matches remaining.
