Last home game of 2018

A statistical look at Tuesday's match at home to VfB Stuttgart.

VfL Wolfsburg host VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday (kick-off: 20:30 CET), the penultimate Bundesliga Matchday of the first half of the season. After three wins and a draw in their last four outings, the Wolves will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in their final home fixture of 2018. The sides drew 1-1 when they last met in February.

  • VfL are unbeaten in their last 11 Bundesliga home meetings with Stuttgart, winning nine of those fixtures. The Swabians' last success at the Volkswagen Arena came in December 2005, when the visitors won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Silvio Meißner.
  • The Wolves have two former Stuttgart players in their ranks in Daniel Ginczek and Josip Brekalo, while VfB trio Christian Gentner, Mario Gomez and Daniel Didavi have all played for Wolfsburg.
  • Ginczek has been directly involved in four of the Wolves' last six goals (three goals, one assist) and has the opportunity to score in four consecutive Bundesliga games for the first time in his career.
  • With 22 points on the board going into the final two games before the winter break, the Wolves have already surpassed their tally from the first half of last season, when they only had 19 points after 17 matches.
  • Head coach Bruno Labbadia was in charge of Stuttgart from December 2010 until August 2013. His achievements include taking the club to the final of the 2013 DFB Cup, where they lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich.
