VfL Wolfsburg’s women are yet to drop a point in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga this season, and now they are looking to carry that run over onto the European stage. The She-Wolves face Dutch champions FC Twente in the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday 16 October (kick-off 18:00 CEST) at the AOK Stadion. The match will be broadcast live on the VfL Wolfsburg YouTube channel as well as the VfL website.

“If possible keep a clean sheet”

"We’re going to be asked questions defensively so first and foremost, we need to maintain our shape and if possible keep a clean sheet," said VfL head coach Stephan Lerch. On top of that, they will be “looking for a goal or two” to give them more of a buffer heading into the return leg on 30 October (kick-off 19:00 CET).

Dickenmann and Pajor added to injury list

There was a distinct lack of good news emanating from the She-Wolves’ medical department, though, with the list of absentees getting longer by the day. Almuth Schult, Sara Doorsoun, Svenja Huth and Kristine Minde had already been ruled out of the match, then last weekend, Lara Dickenmann had to have her appendix removed and will miss not just the match against Twente. Striker Ewa Pajor will not feature either, having gone off at half-time of the 5-0 win away to 1. FC Köln with an ongoing knee problem.
