The Wolves have not enjoyed a great deal of success on their past visits to Munich and have only earned two draws there in the Bundesliga so far. In the 2001/02 season the Green-Whites held Bayern to a 3-3 draw, before returning home with a 2-2 result last term after several years of fruitless trips south. Ahead of the next meeting at the Allianz Arena this Saturday (kick-off 15:30 CET), VfL head coach Bruno Labbadia shared his thoughts on…
…Bayern: "You can tell Bayern are back to their best. We're expecting them to be very good. They've overcome their brief dip in form. Having said that, we're one of the best away teams in the Bundesliga and we're not easy to beat either. Therefore, I think it'll be an interesting game."
…the possibility of picking up points in Munich: "We've got a chance to earn all three points. You have to go there believing in yourselves, even if you know you're playing Bayern and that they're a top team. We'll need to travel there with the same self-confidence we've had for all our other away games so far. It'll be another test of our maturity and we'll do everything we can to play well."
…the personnel situation: "Aside from Ignacio Camacho and Daniel Ginczek, we've got everyone available. We've got two more days of training and right now we're in the middle of analysing the opposition. We'll try to give the boys something to work with and will prepare ourselves extremely well."
…VfL's current position in the table: "It would be nonsense for us not to think about qualifying for Europe. After the past two years, we're not in a position to be bragging. We always just focus on the next game and if we're able to keep playing our best until the very end, it could get exciting. There are a lot of good teams around us, but it's nice that we're in the mix too. We're already happy about that."
