Internationals returning from duty

Plenty of She-Wolves are heading back to Wolfsburg after representing their countries in qualifiers for the EURO 2022 to be held in England.

A number of VfL Wolfsburg players have been away over the past few days playing EURO qualifiers with their respective countries. Here is a look at how they all fared.

Two wins from two for Germany

Germany picked up a pair of 3-0 wins, at home to Ireland and away to Montenegro. VfL Wolfsburg had Kathrin Hendrich, Svenja Huth, Lena Oberdorf, Alexandra Popp and Felicitas Rauch on duty, with Huth and Popp coming home early after the Ireland match.

Mixed fortunes

Like her club colleagues representing Germany, Zsanett Jakabfi also played twice for her country, Hungary. In the opener, they shipped no fewer than eight goals against a dominant Swedish side (8-0), but managed to turn things around a few days later, defeating Latvia 5-0.

Poland, with Katarzyna Kiedrzynek as captain, faced neighbours Czech Republic home and away but only picked up the one point, with a 0-0 draw followed by a 2-0 defeat.

Netherlands extend their lead

Dominique Janssen and recent VfL signing Shanice van de Sanden were on hand to help the Netherlands to a 1-0 in Russia which extends their lead at the top of the group, while Norway – featuring Ingrid Engen and Karina Saevik – ran out winners by the same scoreline against Wales.
