VfL Wolfsburg Women will be without Alexandra Popp for the coming weeks after the 28-year-old tore the lateral ligament in her right ankle in Sunday’s FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga match at 1. FFC Frankfurt. Popp was forced off in the 32nd minute of the 3-0 victory after colliding with Frankfurt defender Janina Hechler. The Germany skipper, who is also one of three regular captains at VfL, will be sidelined for approximately six weeks.
