Individual award for Harder

Pernille Harder is this season’s FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga top goalscorer.

It’s all but guaranteed that Pernille Harder will end the season as the leading goalscorer in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, for the second time after 2017/2018. With one matchday still to go, when VfL Women host Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the AOK Stadion on Sunday 28 June (kick-off 14:00 CEST), the Danish striker sits proudly on 26 goals, eight clear of her nearest rival Nicole Billa of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Unlike previous seasons, the award for the top scorer will be given out on the last day of the current season as opposed to the first match of the next one. Once the final whistle has blown, ‘kicker’ magazine chief editor Jörg Jakob and DFB vice-president Hannelore Ratzeburg will hand over the award, which will be followed by the presentation of the league trophy.

“Top-class international player”

The last time anyone managed more than 26 goals in a season was in 2009/2010, when Inka Grings was on the mark 28 times for FCR 2001 Duisburg. This will be the third season in a row that the coveted kicker trophy is heading to Wolfsburg, with Ewa Pajor claiming the prize last year. “Pernille Harder is the embodiment of a top-class international player,” said Jakob. “Her consistency in front of goal speaks for itself, and her footballing qualities go way beyond that. As a personality, too, she is a great representative for VfL Wolfsburg and for the Women’s Bundesliga in general.“
