VfL defender Marina Hegering sustained a torn muscle fibre in her left calf in the match against FC Bayern Munich on Saturday, as confirmed by a comprehensive medical examination on Monday.
As a result, the 33-year-old is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks. Hegering was forced off the pitch in the 24th minute of the team’s 4-0 defeat after feeling pain in her calf while making a clearance.
