The She-Wolves cemented their place at the top of the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga with a 3-2 win at SC Freiburg - their 13th victory from 16 competitive games this season. Pernille Harder, Pia-Sophie Wolter and Ewa Pajor were on target for Stephan Lerch’s side, who head into Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Lyon brimming with confidence.
The clash between two of Europe’s heavyweight clubs (kick-off 20:45 CET) is being shown live on VfL Wolfsburg’s official YouTube channel, with coverage starting at 20:30 CET. The VfL squad, who are spending Sunday night in Freiburg, will train in the morning before travelling to France later on Monday.

Our players showed great character in the second half in particular, and their attitude on the pitch was spot-on. Our passion helped us turn the game in our favour and we’re happy to have got ourselves the three points. That’s exactly the mentality we need to show in Lyon on Wednesday.
“Alex Popp suffered a knock to her Achilles tendon. It’s a painful one but it doesn’t look like anything serious. We need to wait to find out the extent of Zsanett Jakabfi’s injury - she was taken off with severe pain in her knee. We’ll keep our fingers crossed and head to France tomorrow with a great deal of excitement!”
