VfL Wolfsburg will be without Daniel Ginczek for several weeks after the striker suffered a ligament injury in his right foot during Saturday's 3-0 friendly win against HNK Rijeka in Albufeira, Portugal.
The 27-year-old was withdrawn in the 36th minute against the Croatian side. Tests on Monday and Tuesday diagnosed the injury, which will be treated conservatively.
"As soon as it happened I was worried that it could be a serious injury," said Ginczek. "Of course it's tough to take, but I'm looking forward and giving everything to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. I wish the lads all the best for the upcoming games."
"His absence is a big loss for us," said VfL head coach Bruno Labbadia. "I'm also very sorry for Daniel personally. He had a good first half of the season and I wish him all the best in his recovery. I hope he'll be back with the team soon."
