Further surgery required

Ignacio Camacho is to have another operation on a foot problem.

Bruno Labbadia has revealed that Ignacio Camacho requires further surgery on a persistent foot problem. The VfL head coach confirmed the news at his press conference ahead of the Wolves’ first match of 2019 against FC Schalke 04 on Sunday 20 January (kick-off 18:00 CET). The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder, who had surgery on the injury earlier this season, made just six appearances for the club during the first half of the campaign. The operation will take place in Switzerland on Wednesday. “It’s obviously a shame for him and for us,” said Labbadia. “We’d hoped that Cama would be involved in our preparations for the second half of the season, or that he’d return after two or three games at the latest. It’s obviously going to take a bit longer now.”
