The She-Wolves sent out a clear signal to their rivals in the toughest of pre-season friendlies, inflicting a comfortable defeat on Arsenal Women FC. In the picturesque Tyrolean region of Kaiserwinkl, VfL Wolfsburg Women saw off their storied English opponents 3-0, in front of 354 fans at the Kaiserwinkl-Arena in Kössen. The goals in this, the first warm-up match of the team’s training camp on Lake Walchsee, came courtesy of Ewa Pajor (44’) and Svenja Huth (45’) before the break, with substitute Zsanett Jakabfi notching the third half-way through the second period (72’). The whole match is available to watch on the VfL Wolfsburg YouTube channel.

Before the squad head back to Wolfsburg on Sunday 11 August, they will face Austrian champions SKN St. Pölten at the Kaiserwinkl-Arena on Friday 9 August (kick-off 15:00 CEST).

"We dominated the match"

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “We didn’t get off to the best of starts and looked a little sluggish due to the incredibly intensive training sessions that we’d had. After that though, we controlled the match and dominated possession and could easily have scored earlier than we did. We pressed well and didn’t allow them any chances in the first half, so I’m very pleased with what I saw – as indeed I am with the training camp as a whole. The team is working in a very focused and concentrated way out on the pitch and every player is putting in a shift. Let’s hope it carries on like that!”
