"Dominant and self-confident"

On Tuesday, the Wolves play host to RB Leipzig in the Volkswagen Arena.

There’s not much time for the VfL Wolfsburg players to catch a breath! Following Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Hamburger SV, on Tuesday, December 12th (kick-off 18:30 CET) VfL head-coach Martin Schmidt sends his men back into action once again. In their final home game of the year, the Green-Whites host one of the league’s top-teams in RB Leipzig. The club from Sachsen are currently in second place in the league table, on 27 points. At the pre-match press conference, Wolves coach Schmidt spoke about…

…the personnel situation: Right now, the only absentees are Ignacio Camacho and Jakub Blaszczykowski. All the rest are on board and trained today. Gian-Luca Itter and Marcel Tisserand are both lacking some training-time. Compared to the game against HSV, we will be making one or two changes, but more for tactical reasons in adjusting to deal with our opponents.

…the up-coming match: We rose to a physical game in Hamburg and, with the exception of just a couple of scenes, we managed to hold our opponents at bay well. In the game against Leipzig, we want to be more present in the challenges and particularly in switching our play from defence to attack. We know we will have our chances against RB too.

…home strength: At the moment it looks as though we are getting better results against the top six teams in the league than we have done against our direct competitors. We seem to have it easier as the challenger. However, we are particularly strong at home, which chances the roles a little. From our last five home games we won three and last lost against Dortmund back on match-day 1. We intend to take a dominant and self-confident approach going into this one.
