Convincing victory

The Wolves beat PSV Eindhoven 2-0 in Wednesday’s friendly.

VfL Wolfsburg continued their fine pre-season form on Wednesday evening, beating PSV Eindhoven 2-0 to maintain their unbeaten friendly run. First-half goals from Maximilian Arnold (5’) and William (40’) sealed the win at the Philips Stadion, four days after VfL were held to a 2-2 draw by VVV-Venlo at the Gifhorner Flutmulde.
The Green-Whites headed back to Wolfsburg not long after the final whistle. Oliver Glasner’s players have been given the day off on Thursday before heading to their training camp in Schladming, Austria on Friday.

“Winning here shouldn’t be taken for granted”

VfL head coach Glasner: “Looking at the game as a whole, I’m very pleased. Winning here in Eindhoven shouldn’t be taken for granted. We did a lot of things very well, we were very compact and barely let our opponents get into their stride. We scored two wonderful goals and continued to pose a threat after that. We also struck a good balance between high pressing and compact defending in our own half - against a PSV side who are playing in the Champions League qualifiers next week. I was very impressed with our approach in the second half - you could see that the lads were desperate to keep a clean sheet. We can take a lot of positives from today’s game.”
