Contract extension for Huth

German international signs early deal to stay with VfL Women until 2024.

Svenja Huth will be with VfL Women for another three years at least, after signing an extension to her contract just ahead of the last match of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga season. The 30-year-old 56-time German international was originally tied to the club until 2022, but with the new deal, she will be in VfL Wolfsburg colours until 30 June 2024.

Huth joined the She-Wolves in 2019 from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, for whom she had already made 33 FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga appearances plus another eight in the DFB Cup and ten more in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. With the Green-and-Whites, she has picked up three trophies already – two DFB Cup wins and the 2019/20 German league title.

“I feel very much at home in Wolfsburg”

“I’m delighted to sign an early extension to my contract and to carry on playing in VfL colours for another two years,” said Huth. “I feel very much at home in Wolfsburg both on and off the pitch, and I want to keep on making my own contribution to us achieving our goals.”

“For more than a decade now, Svenja has been one of the stand-out players in German women’s football, and as vice-captain of the German national team she has also gone on to become a leadership figure – as is also the case at VfL Wolfsburg,” added Ralf Kellermann, sporting director for VfL Women. “Svenja’s considerable experience and professionalism will see her take on a central role in the new direction that we are taking with our squad, which features numerous young players.”
