Women

Comfortable win

VfL Women beat SC Sand 4-0 at home in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

VfL Wolfsburg Women head into the first international break of the season on the back of a clean sheet and a comprehensive victory. Tommy Stroot’s side were too strong for SC Sand in Sunday’s FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga encounter, winning 4-0 on home soil. Goals from Jill Roord, Emily Evels (OG) Svenja Huth and Sandra Starke earned the She-Wolves their third success in as many league matches this season.

VfL are back in Bundesliga action at 13:00 CEST on Saturday 2 October, when they travel to SC Freiburg. On Monday 27 September, they take on MSV Duisburg in the second round of the DFB Cup.

Reaction

Tommy Stroot: “We could have been livelier in the first 30 minutes, and possibly more aggressive in creating goalscoring opportunities, but when you win a game 4-0 it tells you everything you need to know. We did a lot of things well and are very much on the right track. There was a lot of energy today, so we look forward to our upcoming tasks with excitement.”
