VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Ignacio Camacho underwent surgery on his left ankle in Switzerland at the start of this week. The decision was taken to correct the 28-year-old's persistent ankle problems given that he already faced several weeks out of action due to a severe muscle injury. The operation, which took place at the Rennbahnklinik in Basel, was successful according to the player's surgeons. The Spaniard will now undergo a rehabilitation programme in Wolfsburg.
Camacho sustained the muscle injury, which has kept him sidelined since the Wolves' away game at SV Werder Bremen on 5 October, in training.
