Bolstering the attack

VfL Wolfsburg sign Sweden international Madelen Janogy.

VfL Wolfsburg Women have strengthened their squad ahead of the second half of the season by signing Sweden international Madelen Janogy with effect from 1 January 2020. The 24-year-old has signed a contract keeping her with the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga leaders until 30 June 2021. The attacker will be joining VfL from Swedish club Pitea IF, whom she helped become the surprise package of the 2018 season, scoring 19 goals as they stormed to the domestic title. This season, Pitea are currently sixth in the league. Janogy, who also has 11 full international caps for Sweden, will not be able to represent the She-Wolves in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the rest of the current campaign, having played in Pitea’s last-32 defeat to Brondby IF earlier this year.

“Versatile attacker who’s a good dribbler”

“It’s a great feeling looking forward to pulling on a VfL Wolfsburg jersey very soon,“ said Janogy. “VfL is an incredibly professional and successful club which will give me the ideal environment to continue my personal development and of course to win trophies!” “Madelen is a versatile attacker who’s a good dribbler, has a powerful left foot and is full of energy,” added VfL Women Sporting Director Ralf Kellermann, who was delighted to bring a third Swede to the club alongside Hedvig Lindahl and Fridolina Rolfö. “We are going to have some packed weeks ahead of us in the second half of the season and with Anna-Lena Stolze also moving on, we have made a real move here to strengthen our squad.”
