For almost 50 years now, TV channel ARD has been awarding the ‘Goal of the Month’, and for the fifth time in history, the award has gone to Wolfsburg. Anna Blässe’s strike in the DFB Cup final against SGS Essen to level the score at 2-2 has been chosen as the ‘July Goal of the Month’. After Roy Präger, Grafite, Ivica Olic and Kevin De Bruyne, a She-Wolf has joined the ranks of VfL winners for the first time. “I’m delighted that my goal won and would like to thank all the fans who voted for me,” said Blässe, who picked up 28.84% of the votes to edge out Bayern Munich’s David Alaba (28.16%). “It’s also a great sign of how much recognition women’s football is now getting!”
