Back home from Portugal

VfL Wolfsburg’s women’s side have returned from an intense 12-day training camp.

The VfL Ladies made their way home on Sunday morning following 12 days of hard work – including two friendly wins – in the Algarve in Portugal. The She-Wolves ran out 4-1 winners against Sporting Lisbon, before beating fellow Bundesliga team 1. FFC Frankfurt by a 1-0 scoreline.

Understandably, head coach Stephan Lerch was positive in his assessment of the training camp. "We were able to work in a very concentrated, focused way," he said. "Conditions were outstanding and the two friendlies were very useful from a tactical point of view."

Recharge the batteries

The two days off that the players now have ahead of them are fully deserved, according to Lerch. "The days were intense, both on and off the field," he said. "The players should now get some rest in order to approach the final stages of preparation in a completely focused manner."

The She-Wolves have just under two weeks until their first competitive outing after the winter break, with a trip to FC Bayern München on the agenda for Sunday 17 February (kick-off: 15:00 CET).

Final friendly scheduled

If everything goes according to plan, another friendly will take place prior to the meeting with Bayern. "We're due to play against Sparta Prague in Halle, but we'll have to wait and see what the weather is like and whether the pitch is playable," said Lerch.
