Attractive group

VfL Women to face Chelsea, Juventus and Servette in UWCL group stage.

VfL Wolfsburg Women will play Chelsea, Juventus and Servette in the inaugural UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage. The She-Wolves were placed in Group A in Monday’s draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. The 2013 and 2014 winners secured their place in the group stage with victory over French club Girondins de Bordeaux in the second qualifying round.

“A proper classic”

UEFA have announced that the group games will take place on 5/6 October, 13/14 October, 9/10 November, 17/18 November, 8/9 December and 15/16 December, kicking off at either 18:30/18:45* or 20:45/21:00. The exact dates and kick-off times will be confirmed in the coming days.

The best two teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals, the draw for which will take place on 20 December. “We’re looking forward to a very attractive group stage, which we’re entering with the clear goal of reaching the quarter-finals for the tenth time in a row,” said VfL Women sporting director Ralf Kellermann. “Due to the number of Wolfsburg players with Italian roots, the visit of Juventus to the AOK Stadion will be a particularly special occasion. We’re also looking forward to another reunion with Pernille Harder and our fifth meeting with Chelsea – a proper classic in the competition. I’m also looking forward to the games against Servette. After all, this is the first time we’ve faced a Swiss team in the Champions League.”
