„Aim is to win the title“

The She-Wolves are about to face Barcelona in the UWCL semi-finals.

Full focus and great excitement – the She-Wolves can reach the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League this evening with a win against FC Barcelona (kick-off 20:00 CEST, live on Wölfe TV). Striker Svenja Huth sat alongside head coach Stephan Lerch at the pre-match press conference and spoke about…

…the plan of attack for the semi-final: “We started these final rounds with the aim of winning the Champions League title and that’s how we’re going into this match too. We’re aware that FC Barcelona are a very strong team and that we need a very good performance to beat them, but the same is true for Barcelona as well.”

…the She-Wolves’ will to win: “Every player has a high level of motivation and always wants to achieve the maximum success. We take that into every game but also every training session. In every training game, every single one of us wants to be on the winning side and we take that mentality into matches. You just can’t get enough of winning titles. It’s the reward for the hard work, and it’s what we train for every day.”

…parallels to the 2013 treble success: “It would obviously be great if history repeated itself. In 2013, when Bayern last won the [men’s] treble, VfL Women also won the Champions League so that’s a good omen. We have to take it step by step, though, and focus completely on the semi-final.”
