"A wonderful competition"

VfL Wolfsburg head coach Bruno Labbadia is looking forward to facing RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup on Wednesday.

Before visiting SC Freiburg on Saturday, Labbadia's side travel to Leipzig in the last 16 of the DFB Cup on Wednesday 6 February (kick-off 18:30 CET). At his pre-match press conference, the Wolves boss spoke to the media about …

… the personnel situation: "Felix Klaus trained on his own yesterday. We ran a couple of tests on him and need to wait and see how he responds. Josuha Guilavogui took part in light training and did well, but we also need to wait and see whether it makes sense to take him with us, or whether to save him for Saturday. Admir Mehmedi on the other hand hasn't been able to train at all with the rest of the team. We'll have to see whether he's an option for Saturday."

… VfL's chances of reaching the final in Berlin: "We've got no chance of getting to Berlin without playing this game first. In the cup, it's all or nothing in every game – either you go through or you get knocked out. I think it's a wonderful competition and a very important one. If there is an opportunity for us to reach the next round, we want to take it. Leipzig are one of the most difficult opponents you can face away from home, but if you want to reach the next round you need to overcome these obstacles. I'm expecting a very intense encounter."

… RB Leipzig's qualities: "You're doing Leipzig a disservice by reducing them to a counterattacking side. They can also play good football. An incredible transformation has taken place at the club. There's a plan behind it all with very dynamic players – including players like [Diego] Demme and [Yussuf] Poulsen who have been with them since the third division. Leipzig are a well-drilled side and always find players to fit their system."
