Wolves sign Kaminski

The Poland international will join VfL in summer 2022.

VfL Wolfsburg have completed their first signing for the 2022/23 campaign, securing the services of 19-year-old attacking player Jakub Kaminski from next summer. The Poland international joins the Green-and-Whites from Polish top-flight side Lech Poznan on a five-year contract until summer 2027.

“Looking forward to getting started”

“For me, moving to the Bundesliga is a complete dream come true,” said Kaminski, who has registered six goals and five assists in 19 league games to help Lech to the top of the Polish Ekstraklasa table this season, as well as making his international debut for Poland. “I’m hugely looking forward to the new challenge and being able to develop and prove myself week after week at the highest level. During our talks, Jörg Schmadtke and Marcel Schäfer convinced me very quickly that VfL is the best club for me to take my next step in my career. Of course I also spoke with my compatriot Bartosz Bialek, who raved about the conditions in Wolfsburg, and I also got to see the great facilities in person. I’m still fully focused on the title race with Lech at the moment, but I’m really looking forward to getting started at Wolfsburg in the summer and getting to know my new colleagues.”

“He’s versatile”

“With Jakub, we’re resolutely continuing our policy of placing our faith in young, talented players who are hungry for success,” commented VfL sporting director Schäfer on the signing of the right-footed, 1.81-metre wideman. “Although he prefers to play as an attacking winger, he’s versatile and can also operate as a deep-lying forward or full-back. He has a brilliant mentality as well as great commitment, he adds dynamism, pace and athleticism and sets himself apart with his work rate. In short, we’re very pleased that Jakub has chosen VfL and will strengthen our squad from summer 2022.”
