Naldo pays a visit: Things can happen quickly in football. In an interview with VfL stadium announcer Georg Poetzsch on Saturday, head coach Niko Kovac personally broke the good news to VfL fans that left-back Rogerio had joined the club. The Brazilian even played in the friendly match against Celta Vigo shortly afterwards. The transfer had been leaked earlier on in spectacular fashion by the 25-year-old's dog, Zorro, who appeared in a picture taken during a walk at Allersee and posted on his own Instagram channel. A former Wolf had been involved in the move too, albeit in a rather different way. Rogerio's compatriot Naldo helped out with communication surrounding the transfer and took the opportunity to visit his old stomping ground.

She-Wolves reach World Cup quarter-finals: The FIFA Women's World Cup adventure continues for three VfL Women: Dominique Janssen, Lynn Wilms and Rebecka Blomqvist. Both the Netherlands and Sweden won their last-16 ties, respectively beating South Africa (2-0) and USA (5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw). Both teams are next in action on Friday 11 August in the quarter-finals, with the Netherlands facing Spain (kick-off 03:00 CEST) and Sweden taking on Japan (09:30 CEST).
