VfL Wolfsburg Women celebrated their 100th UEFA Women’s Champions League match with a 5-0 win over Galatasaray on Wednesday evening. The She-Wolves seized control early on at the AOK Stadion and goals from Alexandra Popp (3’, 15’) inside the first quarter of an hour put the Green-and-Whites on course for victory, with Janina Minge adding a third before the break.
Tommy Stroot’s charges created numerous chances to bolster the scoreline in the second half, but were unable to add to their advantage until the closing stages. Popp completed her hat-trick as the final whistle approached (88’) before Lena Lattwein rounded out the scoring in stoppage time (90’+6). The team’s next Champions League assignment is a vital home clash with AS Roma on 11 December (kick-off 18:45 CET).

1-0 Popp (3’): Sarai Linder’s shot is saved by the Galatasaray goalkeeper but the ball falls kindly for Popp, who tucks in the rebound.
2-0 Popp (15’): Lynn Wilms delivers a corner into the penalty area and finds Popp at the back post to head in the second goal of the night.
3-0 Minge (31’): Minge takes aim from the edge of the area and smashes a fine shot into the right-hand corner.
4-0 Popp (88’): Wilms crosses into the box from the right and again finds Popp, who heads home to make it 4-0.
5-0 Lattwein (90’+6): Popp turns provider as she crosses into the middle from the left. Lattwein evades her marker and nods in to complete the scoring.
