VfL Wolfsburg Women will play at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening in the first leg of their UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final at Paris Saint-Germain (kick-off: 21:00 CET). At his press conference before the game, head coach Tommy Stroot gave his thoughts on…

… personnel: "Apart from Lena Oberdorf, we've got everyone available. Sara Agrez and Sandra Starke aren't in the squad but we've still got a very strong group of players with us in Paris. We've also brought three goalkeepers in Katarzyna Kiedrzynek, Lisa Weiß and Merle Frohms."

… the match: "It's an away game in the quarter-finals of the Champions League – that says it all. On top of all that we're in Paris against a team with a lot of individual quality and a special way of playing football. Those are things we're preparing ourselves for."

… Lena Oberdorf's absence and the team's potential approach: "First and foremost, I have to say that we were delighted that her injury isn't too serious. Anyone who saw what happened will know that she can't play again at such short notice. That's why we started thinking about how to compensate for Lena's absence relatively quickly. Obviously we've given a lot of thought to Alex Popp because she's already played in that position a lot and done well there. Svenja Huth also gave it a go in the centre last season. We could also push Marina Hegering forward from the back, like she did against AS Roma. We've looked at what the best solution might be and it's good that our opponent doesn't know what's going to happen. Our flexibility in certain areas is an advantage."

… favourites and underdogs: "I really don't care who the favourite is. All I want is to reach the semi-finals."
