Oberdorf sprains right knee

No major structural damage for the She-Wolf.

Die VfL-Wolfsburg-Spielerin Lena Oberdorf schießt den Ball.

Shortly after the beginning of the second half of the Women’s Bundesliga home match against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam (5-0), Lena Oberdorf was forced off after turning her right knee when fighting for the ball.

The club’s medical department carried out extensive tests and has allayed some of the fears surrounding the German international by ruling out any structural damage. The incident, which saw Oberdorf taken off in the 49th minute, resulted in a sprain of the right knee and the 21-year-old will now be unavailable for the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg away to top French side Paris Saint-Germain this coming Wednesday, 22 March (kick-off: 21:00 CET).

It is not yet clear how long it will take Oberdorf to recover from the injury and make her way back into the squad.
